What do the colors red and yellow mean on an ultrasound of the thyroid?

My mother was passing by an ultra sound the other day, but on screen he saw the red and yellow and are very scared. I think because she thinks something bad means red. Does anyone know what these colors mean on an ultrasound? I would ask the doctor, but we can not contact him until Monday, so if anyone has any information, I appreciate it. Thank you. ~ Lindsay

Normal UltraScan images will be in shades of gray and black …. whites. No colors. When we use a characteristic color, is watching the blood flow. Would to have seen shades of blue and red. Each body part must have the blood flow inside. Whenever we took some pictures of each lobe of the thyroid with characteristic color. "The dynamic information, such as blood flow can be added to the signal by using a physical principle called the Doppler effect. The Doppler signals, which overlap in real time grayscale images are very bright in black and white images and can be color coded to show speed (frequency change) and direction of blood flow (phase change) and the degree of vascularization of an organ. [6,7] flow in a direction is made red and in the opposite direction, blue. The shadow color and intensity can be correlated with the flow rate. Thus, in general terms, the venous and arterial flow can be represented by the assumption that the flow in these two types of blood vessels is parallel but in opposite directions. Since portions of the vessels blood can be tortuous, change the orientation of the probe, different colors are displayed in the same boat, even if the true direction of blood flow the ship has not changed. Therefore, an analysis of flow characteristics requires careful observation and cautious interpretation. The absence of flow in a fluid-filled structure can differentiate a cystic structure and a blood vessel. "Http: / / www.thyroidmanager.org / FunctionTests / usound-text.htm
