Color Monitor
The technical aspects of the monitor and evaluation criteria
Author: Smruti Ranjan Sarangi
Monitor is another term for display screen. The term monitoring, however, usually refers to the box, while the display screen can mean just the screen. Furthermore, the term monitoring often involves graphic capabilities.
There are several ways to classify monitors. The easiest way is to color in terms of capabilities, which separates monitors into three classes:
1 – Monochrome: Monochrome monitors actually display two colors, one for the background and the foreground. Colors can be black and white green and black, or orange and black.
2 – Gray scale: A gray scale is to follow a type of monochrome monitor capable of displaying different shades gray.
3 – Color: The color screen can display 16 to more than 1 million different colors. Color monitors are sometimes called RGB monitors, because they accept three signals red, green and blue.
After this classification, the most important aspect of a monitor is the screen size. Like televisions, screen sizes are measured in inches, the distance from one corner to the diagonally opposite corner. A standard size for small VGA screens of 14 inches. The screens are 16 inches or more are often full-page monitors. In addition to their size, the screens can be portrait (height greater than width) or landscape (width greater than height). Larger landscape monitors display two pages side by side. The screen size is sometimes misleading, as there is always a space around the edge of the screen that can not be used. Therefore, manufacturers must now follow the visible area, in the area of the screen that is actually used.
Resolution of the screen shows how the density of pixels are packed. In general, the more pixels (often expressed in dots per inch), the sharper the image. Most monitors display 1024 by 768 pixels, the SVGA standard. Some high-end models can display 1280 by 1024 or even 1600 by 1200.
Another way of classifying monitors is based on the type of signal they accept: analog or digital. Almost all monitors accept analog signals, which is required by the VGA, SVGA, 8514 / A, and other high-resolution color standards.
Some monitors are fixed frequency, which means that they accept input at only one frequency. Most monitors, however, are multiscanning, which means they adjust automatically to the frequency of signals it receives. This means they can display images at different resolutions, according to data transmitted by video cards.
Other factors that determine the quality of a monitor are:
1 – Bandwidth: The range frequency signal, the monitor can handle. This determines the amount of data it can process and therefore how fast it can refresh at higher resolutions.
2 – Refresh rate: How many times per second, the screen is refreshed (redrawn). To avoid flickering, the refresh rate must be at least 72 Hz
3 – Interlaced or noninterlaced: Interlacing is a technique that allows an instructor to have more resolution, but it reduces the reaction speed of the screen.
4 – Dot pitch: The amount of space between each pixel. The most small lot of dowry, the sharper the image.
5 – Convergence: The clarity and sharpness of each pixel.
Touchscreen
A screen Touch is an easy to use as input device allows users to control PC software, DVD video camera so touching the screen. We manufacture and distribute a range of products related to touch screen. A touchscreen is an input device that allows users to operate a PC, camera, etc. instruments by touching the screen. Touch input is suitable for a wide variety of applications computer. A touch screen can be used with most systems as easily as other input devices such as track balls or touch pads.
How does a touch screen work? A touch screen input system is basically a typical input device as a mouse, trackpad or ballpoint pens, etc.. A touch screen is composed of a touch sensor, a controller card and a software driver.
What screens are used? Touchscreen systems are used in a variety of applications, including point of sale systems, public information display systems, industrial control, and more.
Touchscreen monitors are becoming more common their price has steadily declined over the last decade. There are three basic systems that are used to identify a contact person: 1 – Resistance 2 – Capacity 3 – surface acoustic wave
The strength of the system consists of a normal glass panel that is covered a driver and a resistive metallic layer. These two layers are held apart by spacers and a scratch-resistant layer is placed on top of all the installation. An electric current passes through the two layers while the monitor is operational. When the user touches the screen, the two layers of contact at that specific location. The change in the electrical field is noted and the coordinates of the point of contact are calculated by the system. Once coordinates are known, a driver translates into something that affects the operating system can understand, like a computer mouse driver translates mouse movements into a click or a drag.
In the capacitive system, a layer that stores electrical charge is placed on the glass panel of the screen. When the user touches the screen with his finger, part of the load is transferred to the user, so that the capacitive load of the layer decreases. This decrease is measured in circuits located at each corner of the screen. The computer calculates, from the relative difference in charge at each corner, where the contact took place and that relays information to the touchscreen driver. An advantage the system capacity on the strength of the system that distributes about 90 percent of the light from the screen, while the resistance system does about 75 percent. This gives the capacitive system a much clearer picture of the resistance system.
On the screen of a system surface acoustic wave, the two transducers (one receiving and one sending) are placed along the X and Y axes of the plate glass of the monitor. Also placed on the glass are reflectors they reflect an electrical signal sent from one transducer to another. The receiving transducer is able to say whether the wave has been disturbed by a touch If at any time, and can locate it accordingly. The wave setup has no metallic layers on the screen, allowing 100 percent light throughput and perfect image clarity. This makes the surface acoustic wave system best to display graphics (both other systems of significant deterioration in clarity).
Another area where the systems in the difference is which stimuli will register as a touch event. A resistive system registers a touch as long as the two layers in contact, which means that it does not matter if you hit with your finger or a rubber ball. A capacitive system, on the other hand, must having a driver input, usually your finger to save a key. The surface acoustic wave system works much like the system resistance, allowing a touch with almost all items except hard and small objects, like the tip of a pen.
Regarding prices, the resistance system is cheaper, its clarity, is the lowest of the three, and its layers can be damaged by sharp objects. The surface acoustic wave setup is usually the most expensive.
MONITORING TOOLS
There are many types of tools, devices, instruments and software available in the market of the screen. Some of the tools I give names below:
Blue eye 2 calibration tool to screen for rendering professional accurate color, the LaCie blue eye 2 with the help of CRT and LCD hardware is a simple screen calibration, consistent color tool.
Monitor with Built-In DVR and 4 cameras out and record all your security with this all-in-one system. Includes monitor with High digital video recorder and 4 colors.
Color Vision Spyder2PRO tool calibration screen HP Hewlett Packard.
And many Other tools available on the market.
Flat Screen
You should not feel today in the selection box computer monitors. Nor must the purchase of a monster swallowing to display text and graphics. Modern-day monitors are a blend of fashion and functionality.
There are two main types of monitors: CRT and LCD flat screens flat screen monitors.
Less costly, cathode ray tubes (CRT) are the most common type of monitor. Although earlier models are slightly rounded screens, today's CRT screen flat quickly gained popularity.
Whereas the origins of CRT technology may be attributed to television screens liquid crystal display (LCD) have long been used in laptops. LCD often provide sharp images and brighter than their bulkier counterparts. And although they are traditionally more expensive than CRTs, LCDs have dropped significantly in price as they enter the market.
So is it better to stick to LCD or CRT tried to jump on the wave? Consider the following:
Save space on your desktop
In today's world of home offices and cramped quarters, size matters. Choose a resolution to meet your needs. LCDs could save space, but CRTs offer better visibility. In addition to supporting multiple resolutions, CRTs images allow the user to see clearly from different angles. LCD monitors, by contrast, often seem vague or Sunday when viewed from the side.
There are pictures of people who still prefer a large flat screen CRT, an LCD display. Digital photography enthusiasts will enjoy LCDs "images are sharp and bright, particularly when enhancing and retouching digital photos. LCD Monitors also prevent consumers from tension eyes watching the screen, "said Park.
Search maintenance and longevity
Whether your preference is a strong lightweight CRT or LCD, both types of monitors have an average life of five to seven years.
Whereas the CRT can be cleaned with a rag, oil the skin of a person can leave hard to remove markings an LCD display. When buying an LCD monitor, be sure to ask a clerk in store for you in the direction of cleaning solutions and wipe-ups in order to prolong the life of your monitor.
FLAT PANEL MONITOR
A flat screen can refer either to a computer or screen television does not use a cathode ray tube (CRT) technology, but as the LCD or plasma technology. This allows the monitor to have a profile thin, which is how the flat screen takes its name. Because of its lightness, small size, clarity and digital technology, the screen flat has become the monitor of choice.
Before the flat screen CRT monitor is standard. These monitors are easily recognizable by the swelling of return or the image of the tube. Vacuum tube monitors are not only bulky and heavy, but they are environmentally friendly and hostile emit more radiation than a screen flat.
Although there are many advantages to a flat control panel, there are one or two potential disadvantages. A small angle of view may be, even if it is easily avoided by shopping discriminately, as the viewing range is included in the specifications of these products. A second drawback is linked to the "resolution".
A CRT monitor displays text in any supported resolution, but not a flat screen delivers perfectly clear in the native resolution. On a screen of 19 inches, it could be 1280 × 1024 pixels. Switching to a lower resolution will show the text slightly blurred or fuzzy.
Why would anyone want to move to a lower resolution? In higher resolution images, to improve, but they also become smaller. For example, icons on a desktop, toolbars in software, menus and operating system are reduced to higher resolutions. Although many of these items can be adjusted up, some people prefer a resolution lower for all larger images on the screen. This could be a particular concern for people with visually impaired. In this case, see the flat screen carefully before purchase to make sure the native resolution will be comfortable.
Flat panel displays have steadily declined in price while improving quality. Gamers and video editing professionals tend to avoid these screens at the start due to "ghosts" with fast moving graphics, but this is no longer a problem. A response time faster and increasing the viewing angle made the flat screen more popular than ever. With its clear digital image, the space saving footprint and ultra-lightweight, flat screen is a good improvement over its CRT predecessor.
