How does the Doppler work?
The Doppler listens to the reflections of small, sound waves at high frequency that are reflected in the uterus. These sound waves are captured by the probe and amplified by the loudspeaker in hand so you can hear clearly. There are a variety of sounds that can be heard, including the Fetal Heart beat / tone, which is distinct and readily identifiable. You can hear kicks and hiccups when your baby grows. Sounds can generally be heard from 10-12 weeks of pregnancy.
Doppler is safe?
All Fetal Doppler is available through reputable internet shops are the same, or use the same technology as Doppler is used by your midwife or doctor during your examinations throughout your pregnancy. Ultrasound has been used for years without any negative effect on the fetus or the other or the mother.
Fetal Doppler has a great safety. They were used daily for the last thirty years in the world. It is estimated around five million are in use every day. No adverse effects to either the mother or the baby have been reported.
Please do not confuse with Doppler ultrasound scanners used in hospital to show images of your baby. Our use of Doppler ultrasound with a very low power. That's why they are executed on a single household batteries.
What if I can not find the heartbeat?
Finding the heartbeat can be intimidating at first in May as your baby is lower than you expect. Make sure you use a generous amount of coupling gel and position of the probe on your lower abdomen. If you hear no sound at first, the probe to move slowly until you pick up the heart beat. The fetal heart beat sounds as a galloping horse and is very quick to 120-160 beats per minute. How do I know this is not my heartbeat I can hear?
The sound of fetal heartbeat is distinctive, but it can often be confused with other sounds at first. May be you have heard during your appointment with prenatal midwife or your doctor. It is a fast, flying son, not to be confused with the sound of whistling the placenta.
– A roaring sound, like waves on a beach, is the sound of your placenta.
– A "being whooshing "noise is the sound of the blood supply to the placenta.
– Your own pulse! Remember that your baby's heartbeat is approximately two times faster than that.
– A pulse that is most acute heart of your baby, but at the same speed. This is the pulse through the umbilical cord, a very pregnant and reassuring noise!
How many heartbeats per minute, I heard?
The heartbeat of fetus is much faster than yours and is usually between 120 and 160 beats per minute. However, the heart rate is not likely to stay constant, and vary by time of day and amount of activity. The reading of the Doppler effect should not be used for self-diagnosis that any interpretation is complex and requires special medical training.
Do I need a special lotion or ultrasound gel?
The Doppler Probe fetal on your needs a dense liquid to pick up the sound waves of the uterus. The coupling gel that comes with your Doppler is to be used to ensure the quality and clarity of sounds you can hear.
Doppler Tips
– An easy way to find the heartbeat is to take your Doppler with you at your next prenatal appointment. OB or midwife can help you find your baby's heartbeat and provide you with useful advice doppler.
– A full bladder helps in May, especially in early pregnancy.
– In early pregnancy, start your fetal doppler in line with the belly over the button right pubic hair. As pregnancy progresses, the doppler fetal heart is the highest in the abdomen.
– Move the doppler probe very slowly – it is quite easy to get to the heart. Also, if you move the probe too fast it May cause interference noise.
– Tilt the doppler probe downward towards the pubis.
– Be sure to use lots of gel Doppler. If you do not freeze, you can buy additional doppler gel from us.
– The baby is normally set much further into the basin than you imagine.
– Do not panic if you do not pick up the heartbeat immediately, some days, you and other days, the baby in May in hiding.
