How long of a pregnancy before ultrasound detected fetal malformations?
I was diagnosed with threatened abortion, that is, I almost get a miscarriage. I am very anxious as to its effect on the fetus. Will an ultrasound to detect any anomaly or deformity? I am particularly concerned at the extremities and skull malformations. How long before I can really detect anything?
Some major malformations can be collected as early as 8 weeks. Those described should be detectable by 20 weeks. However, there is no need to particularly concerned that, unless you've had a baby the past with them. Threat abortion is very common and most babies who survive are perfectly healthy. Good luck.
